Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

What is the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)?

EPS is an NHS-funded service in England. It gives you the chance to change how the GP allocates your prescription by sending it electronically to a pharmacy nominated by you to collect your medication/appliance.

What does this mean for you?

If you currently collect your repeat prescriptions from the surgery, if you sign up to ETP, you will no longer have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send your prescription electronically to your nominated pharmacy saving you time.

This is a free service and you do not need to have a computer to sign up.

This is a safe confidential service ensuring prescriptions cannot be lost.

Please note that for repeat dispensing, your nominated pharmacy may take longer than 48 hours to process your prescription.

Is this service right for you?

  • If you don't want to go to your GP practice every time to collect your repeat prescription
  • Collect your medication from the same place most of the time

How to sign up

Please inform our reception team of your chosen pharmacy and they will add this information to your medical record.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time- please ask our reception team to change this for you.
